A Valentine's Converstaion

Me: "Andie, tomorrow you will get to talk about hearts at school. What does a heart look like?"

Andie: "Like this." (as she showed me with her hands)

Me: "That's right where is YOUR heart?"

Andie: "In my backpack, Mama."

Me: "Oh, well, you know we also have hearts in our bodies that pump our blood and allow us to love each other...right here" (trying to show her where our hearts are in our chests)

Andie: "No Mama, it's in my backpack. I'll go get it."

Cutie patootie! We have the most fun conversations. Last week my little Drama Queen said this....

Andie: "Mama I don't want to eat my supper, I want to watch TV."

Me: "I'm sorry but we cannot turn on the TV until you eat all of your sandwhich."

Andie: with a big sigh and putting her head down on the table very dramatically she says, "This is terrible!"

Me: with a laugh, "What?"

Andie: picking her head up and putting the back of her hand to her forehead, "This is just terrible Mama."

Oh yes, we are in for it!

Big News!

Andie and Copper have news to share! They are going to be big sisters! In July we will be welcoming Baby Scott, the 5th member into our family. We are all so excited!

Clemson Game Get-Together

We had a great time at friends' eating oysters, playing, eating more yummy food, reading books, and eating some more. It was a pre-Orange Bowl gathering that was so much fun!

Most everyone left and Ian and Andie got into the PJs to enjoy the start of the game. Our Tigers didn't pull it out, but we will always be Tigers to the core...our blood do runneth orange!

We had a great time New Year's Eve hanging out with neighbors and friends. The whole street plus gathered in the street with food, fires, and fun! Andie enjoyed all "her friends."

Christmas Festivities

Andie was drawn to Uncle Bob this year. She sat a talked to him about all kinds of things.

Then he got ahold of the new puppy, and Uncle Bob became Andie's best friend.

Santa brought all kinds of fun things for Andie. One huge hit was a new little bottle to feed her baby.

...and a microphone.

Nana gave Andie a scooter, and she thinks she is Super Scooter Andie!

G and Papa gave Andie a swingset! She loves it! And this great weather we've had has allowed for a lot of outdoor play on it.

It has a super fast slide.

A great fort up top with a steering wheel for adventures to "treasure island"

And just before Christmas was over, we remembered to get some family pics!

Aunt Megan and Uncle Mark gave Andie a book about....Super Andie! It is hilarious and she loves it! Check out the outfit on my super daughter!

Aunt Megan and Uncle Mark also gave her a new big girl doll, Julia. She's a cheerleader and Andie thinks she is so cool!

Christmas was wonderful! We got to enjoy the company of family and friends and each other. Andie enjoyed it all. We tried to emphasize the reason for the season...the birth of Jesus Christ our Savior. We sang Happy Birthday to Jesus and prayed special thank-prayers for all of our MANY blessings including Jesus Himself!

Charleston Christmas Carriage Tour

G got us tickets to do a night-time carriage tour led by Santa himself. While waiting we got to pet the horses and take fun pictures! It was really fun!

Every year we go to the "Lights Before Christmas" at the zoo with the entire Scott family! It is always a special treat. Andie LOVES her big cousins Will and Cooper. And this year we added Baby Anna.

Andie enjoyed dancing through the entire zoo all night. These "rockin' lights" were a hit too.

And Nana payed for all the kids, Darrell and Ellen included :o), to ride the carousel.

Lexington Christmas Parade

For the last couple of years we have enjoyed taking Andie to the Lexington Christmas parade. We sported our orange this year, because it was the Sunday after winning the ACC Championship!

Some highlights of the parade were Ronald McDonald and the Pleasant Hill Middle School Cheerleaders!

Andie waved and waved at all the floats and cars in the parade...in between eating all the candy she got. :o)

Last night we went to Boo at the Zoo with our friends The Clamps. Andie was the cutest Minnie Mouse I've ever seen! (but I guess I am a little bias :o)). The Clamps were the gang from Jake and the Neverland Pirates! The were just as cute as Minnie!

Fall Party at School

On Thursday, Andie's class had a Fall Party. It was so cute. They had snacks and got to decorate a cookie with candy corn and M&Ms. They also got to put stickers on a paper pumpkin. Andie had a blast!

Then the class got to go on a "pumpkin hunt." Everyone found a pumpkin to take home. It was too cute. And I loved seeing Andie with her new friends from school. It is a cute group. They took some cute class pictures, but I didn't want to put pictures of other kids up.

(*ok, so I have to brag just a little...I made Andie's pants! And a big shout out to my great friend Kathy for appliquing the shirt for me! The outfit turned out great! I'm so excited about it.)

Andie was sick this weekend so she and I drove back to Lexington Sat. morning before the game. She was in the car saying bye to Darrell and said, "Daddy, I don't want to go home, I want to go to the ballgame." Then a little ways down the road she told me, "Mama, I feel better, I feel better, let's go to the ballgame."

"Mama, can we have sleepover pizza for supper?"

Virginia Tech

When Clemson played football at Virginia Tech a couple of weeks ago, all the "grown-ups" got to go up to Blacksburg. We had a great time, despite the freezing and raining weather. Megan went to VT, so we had a little family rivalry going. :o)

When Megan was in college, the whole fam went up one weekend to visit. We took a picture of Megan, John Edward and I hanging from this tree...so, of course, we had to reinact it!

Va Tech is absolutely gorgeous!We only got a few pictures because it rained most of the weekend.

Tiger Time

A couple of weeks ago, when Clemson played Florida State, we got to take a tour of the West Zone and Football facility. It was great! We got to see the amazing weight room, locker room, and even got to go out on the field.

We also got to go to the Student Affairs Gala with our great friends, Bert and Hannah. We had so much fun dressing up and spending time with friends. These are some pre-gala pictures in the beautiful Clemson sunset.

The weekend continued to be eventful with the attendance of my Aunt Gail, Uncle Terry, cousins, Katy, Matthew, Jay and their families. It was a blast having everyone there. As you can see, there were plenty of little ones having a big Clemson time!

This past weekend we went to Clemson to watch the Tigers beat Troy! Andie did great and had a ball! That girl loves her some Clemson football! She clapped and yelled and searched the field for the cheerleaders and tiger the whole game!

Griffith Beach Week

Every year we get to spend a week with my Dad's sisters and their families at Edisto. It is always a special week and one we look forward to all year. This year was especially fun! We had 4 little kiddos and 2 older kids. They had a blast on the beach and under the house playing with each other. And of course, us grown-ups thoroughly enjoyed catching up and all the free entertainment. :o)

Little miss independent likes to do everything herself and is very resourceful. She saw this little chair under the house, remembered it was there, trucked up to the house from the beach, got it and carried it back down without ever telling anybody what she was doing....a hoot!

Richardson Caribbean Cruise July 2011

In July, Darrell and I were blessed enough to have amazing people watch Andie so that we could go on vacation. We joined the 21 other mostly Richardsons on a cruise to Cozumel, Belize, Roatan Isle, and Costa Maya. We had a blast! We got to do a lot of fun things...

...eat...and wave our napkins in the air!...

...dress up!...and eat some more!....

...SWIM WITH THE DOLPHINS! MEET LUKE! DEFINITELY ONE OF THE COOLEST THINGS I'VE EVER DONE! LOVED IT!!....

A quick story....(one I don't want to forget)

Andie and I were out on the dock throwing some old bread (and hushpuppies) into the water, trying to feed the birds. We were throwing, but the birds were not coming. Andie had a hushpuppy and threw it into the water. She yelled, "Birds!! Come and get the....muffin!" (She didn't know what to call it and after the pause, decided on muffin). I told her, "Andie, it is called a hushpuppy." She looked at me, then turned to look at Copper and said, "hush puppy!" Priceless! I laughed and laughed, and tried to explain that that particular "muffin" is called a hushpuppy.

We are moving out of our house, so I had to get some pictures. We love this house! It has been great to us. We will miss it and all of our amazing neighbors, but we also look forward to the next chapter in our adventure!

Right now, at 2, Andie is such a joy! She is speaking in sentences and can say anything she wants to say. Today she said, "Thank you Mama, Daddy, playground," after we left the park. She loves to eat, especially junk food, but she also loves strawberries, peaches, green beans, and biscuits. She loves to sing and dance. She likes to march everywhere. She also loves to wear her tutus (we have 3)! She asks to go to the beach at least 3 times a week. She loves dogs, cats, and horses. She wants to do everything "myself." She also loves to comment us ("pretty hair Mama, pretty shoes, pretty ears") Haha! Our sweet girl, she's amazing!

This post is extremely overdo...but here it is. On Saturday before Easter, we took Andie to her first "official" Easter Egg Hunt at the Baptist Church. She had a blast! And we got to see our good friends the Brocks!

Andie and I were lucky enough to get to spend last week at Edisto. It was great to get to spend some time with the family and enjoy "beach life." We also "prepared" for Easter....

Girls' Weekend!

A couple of weekends ago, a group of great friends got together to celebrate the near arrival of Baby Elsken. We all went to Clemson together. It was so nice to have everyone together...all ten of us! What a treat to spend good quality time with the girls you love.

We arrived Friday evening and ate a delicious dinner that Julie and her husband prepared for us. Then we slept in a little and lounged around drinking coffee and catching up.

We then had a yummy and fun shower for Julie. Everyone brought the yummiest food!

And I had to take pictures of Julie's beautiful home! They had gorgeous flowers and plants everywhere! Not to mention we were within walking distance of Augusta National.

This is Andie and her Uncle Jed. John Edward is my baby brother (7 years younger) and I love and adore him...and so does Andie. I just love this picture of the two of them. Let me tell you a little bit about my baby brother. First of all, he's not a baby anymore...he is quite the young man. He is such a great guy, always kind, considerate, responsible, and self-less. He is so great! I love him to pieces and am sure he doesn't know how much he means to me. I am so proud of all he does and who he is. We love you Buddy! Thanks for being such a great little bro and fabulous uncle!

Birthday Festivities

This past weekend was quite eventful. We started off in Summerville for the Azalea Festival, then down to Daniel Island and Charleston for the Cooper River Bridge Run, then continued the fun in Charleston Saturday night to celebrate Kappy's birthday at Rue de Jean. It was so much fun to spend the weekend with Megan, Kappy, Meg, Aunt Jeannette and Mom. Mom and Darrell tag-teamed Andie so I could do it all!

A fun group! What a great night. Kappy, thanks for having a birthday so we could party! The girls (and Jed) enjoyed a night out at Midtown on King St. It was so much fun! A great weekend, even if I'm still catching up on my sleep!

At G and Papa's house, there is a playground right on the other side of the fence. It's great! We can walk out the front door, down the little path right to the park. Andie loves to go there.

Fun Spring Pics

This past weekend was great! Busy, but great. We started off the weekend in Summerville and got to go to the Azalea/Flowertown Festival. It is one of my favorite things to do! The azaleas and dogwoods were gorgeous! I ran into old friends and got some great pics.

My amazing husband brought home the most beautiful boquet of pink roses last week! They were too pretty not to take a picture of. I am one lucky gal!

This past weekend we got to go up to Clemson. We enjoyed watching the Tigers beat Va Tech in basketball. It was a great game and Andie loved her first basketball game. We spent the night with our great friends the Bolings at their lake house. It rained all Saturday, but the kids had a great time playing with all the fun toys. It was so nice to get to hang out with friends without being rushed. Sunday it cleared up just in time for some Clemson baseball...and a big win against the Gamecocks. Before the baseball game we had a great time with more friends from our small group, the Clamps and Players. All in all it was a wonderful weekend full of memories that will last a lifetime. Unfortunately I didn't get a single picture. Go Tigers!

February Fun

February was a lot of fun. We celebrated Daddy's birthday with Uncle Tommy, Aunt Ellen, Will, Cooper and Nana. We washed cars...and Andie's Cozy Coup. We read books (picture of Andie in our chair with her "hippo pillow", covers, baby doll, and pillow - all which she requested before we could get started). And we showed off our sunglasses with G.

It blows me away daily that my baby girl is so big and so independent. She is such a joy and so much fun. She is speaking in sentences and says the funniest things. Some popular phrases are: "I have it." "Do myself" "Go G's house." "Watch TV." "I help you." "A hug. A kiss. Thank you."

So things are fun. Especially with the wonderful warm weather we've been having that has allowed us to play outside and at the park. Our sweet girl isn't a baby anymore...it makes me sad but oh so happy at the same time. We are having so much fun with this life God has given us.

Papa's birthday was a couple of weeks ago, so Andie, Darrell, Copper and I headed to Edisto to celebrate. Megan and Mark also came up. It was really cold, but it was great to get our Edisto fix!

A couple of weeks ago, Mama G came up and we took Andie to the Circus! G and I loved it! We think Andie did too, but the expression on her face was one of overwhelment more than it was excitement. :o) She sat in my lap staring in amazement through the entire long show.

The entire show was amazing! G and I especially enjoyed the 7 motorcycles in the one spherical cage. But I didn't think to take pictures until the elephants came out. Look at those amazing elephants!

And I thought these guys jumping on the trampolines were really neat in their fire-looking costumes.

I don't remember the circus' I went to as a kid being such a production. I really felt like I was at some sort of Broadway show.

Snow...a MONTH ago!

In January, Lexington got dumped on. At first it was fluffy and loads of fun. After a few days it turned to ice and we couldn't play in it. After a week off of school and not being able to play in it, we were glad to see the snow go. But Andie and I had a blast building our "snow mound" and sledding down AND up the hill!
"Hey Daddy!" It was great having Darrell home too. He took the pictures and captured the day!

"Pat, pat, pat" "Pat, pat" Andie said it every time she scooped the snow up and patted it down.

So glad we had snow clothes for Andie from going out to Colorado.

Once we came in to warm up, we enjoyed a yummy treat of "snow cream." (snow, milk and sugar) I can remember this yummy special treat every time it snowed when I was younger.

So, my computer recently got a virus and went haywire. The GeekSquad thought they could save my pictures and files, but come to find out, the virus corupted most of them, breaking them into bits and pieces making them unviewable. So, they're gone...except for the ones I've posted on this blog. So I at least have a record of our journey. Thank you Blog! I did however loose all of my Christmas pictures before posting them (very sad about this!). So that is why I haven't posted our Christmas pictures...I have none. But I am over it and am thankful for what I do have. So moral of the story...BACK UP YOUR PICTURES!

Half-Marathon...Check!

My amazing friend Amy and I ran our first half-marathon this past Saturday in Charleston! We did it and it was awesome! We worked so hard for it, but I couldn't have done it without Amy! We completed the 13.1 mile course in 2 hours 32 minutes and ran the whole way (which was my goal) :o)

For Jed's graduation and Christmas, Mom and Dad took us ALL to Keystone, CO the week before Christmas! We had a blast in the beautiful Rocky Mountains filled with snow. What a great way to spend time with family. The pictures are completely out of order, but they really show the fun we had.

Uncle John Edward graduated from Clemson on December 16. Andie and I went up for the occasion. It was freezing cold and raining, so these were the only pictures we got...pitiful. John Edward and I are the fourth generation to graduate from Clemson. Our Great-Grandfather, both Grandfathers and Dad all came before us. Hopefully we will continue the tradition.

Every year we try to make it to the Lights at the Zoo with the entire Scott Family. This year, we were super excited, because Andie loves lights and was all into the Christmas spirit...so we got really bundled up and headed out into the 29 degree evening!

What a perfect Thanksgiving with so many things to be thankful for. All the Griffith family was together to celebrate. We ate good food and had a great time.

Because we were all together, we gave Mom her Christmas present a little early. We all went in together and got her a huge (17 foot) Tiger Eye feather flag. It flies up and down on a long pole that you stick in the ground. It really is awesome! And she loved it!

18 Months

I thought now would be a fun time to post our nightly ritual...bath, with Copper helping of course! And look at all that hair! Ok, so maybe one day.

Well, this post is a little late, but Andie's 18 mos post is an important one. She ways about 23lbs, wears sizes 18 and 24mos and size 4 shoe. She wants to be big so bad and loves to be a "helper." She loves to vaccume and swiffer, brush her teeth, play outside, climb, and chase the dog and other children. She loves babies and her daddy. She loves giving hugs and kisses and will just randomly do both...love it! This month she is talking up a storm. Some of the words she's saying are:

Copper, dog, please, up, down, Ho Ho, Santa, tree, no, yes maam, sneeze, read, up stairs, help, love you, Andie ("Anyee")...

She tries to repeat anything you say, and usually gets it close. She is such a trip and keeps us in stitches. Her new vocabulary and has come with a new-found independence which includes quite the spunk. She is trying to find her boundaries (to put it nicely :o)). So I hope you can tell we are having a blast with our baby girl, enjoying every minute, good and not-so-good. We are all super excited about Christmas and how much fun it will be with Andie.

Clemson Reunion

Last weekend we had fun visiting with all my girlfriends from college before the Clemson/NC State game. And boy was it cold. But so wonderful to see everyone and the growing kids and new babies. I love yall!

A couple of weekends ago, Andie and I hitched a ride with Papa and Mama G to Greenville (to meet Darrell). We got to play downtown for a little while. We had a great time at Perry's birthday party today. Andie loved jumping and sliding in the blow-up jump house. She loved getting her own box of raisins to eat. She also LOVED riding the pony! The pictures didn't turn out great, but she rode about 4 times..she kept calling them "doggies." We also enjoyed meeting Perry's friends Ann Douglas and Baylis. How crazy is that...two kids in Perry's class are named Ann Douglas and Baylis. We really enjoyed the fun day...Jay and Macon did a great job putting on the perfect party!

Go Tigers! The first football game of the season was great. Andie loved watching all of the people. She loved the beginning of the game with all of the music, yelling, clapping and balloons. Griffith Beach Week

Andie loved seeing all of the pelicans fly over the beach every day. They are such gorgeous animals and it always amazes me to seem them fly in a pattern.

So I hope this means that Andie will be more organized and tidy than her mother. Yesterday she took all of the baby food jars out of the cabinet and carried each one accross the kitchen to the table where she lined each jar up on the bench. It was so funny. I tried to get her to put them up, but she would have nothing to do with that. Even after I put them up, she pulled them out and lined them up again. I guess that means it's time to donate it all to LICS. Bye bye baby food.

We had a great time visiting with our good friends the Fowlers a couple of weeks ago. They came over for dinner. The girls played and the adults conversed. The Fowler girls are like Andie's sisters. Blackwell and Alyson's Wedding Weekend

We had a great time celebrating with family at Blackwell and Alyson's wedding in June. Andie got to swim in a swimming pool for the first time and had a blast visiting with all the people...and animals at the farm.

The farm was gorgeous for the rehearsal dinner and wedding. I was really bad about not taking many pictures. Andie had so much fun playing with the other kids in the wagon, drinks and ice-filled tub, and petting the horses.

Poor little bug was tuckered out and fell asleep in Holly's arms. Holly has the touch! Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Blackwell Johnson.

Birthday, Baby Birds and Beach

This week was my birthday and our 5 Year Anniversary!! Now, I know most of you think you have the best husband ever, but I'm sorry to tell you...you don't....I do! Look at these gorgeous flowers Darrell brought home yesterday. Thank you Sweetheart!! Stargazer Lillies...my favorite!

These are our baby birds! Aren't they cute? They were in the nest in our Crepe Myrtle in our front yard, but with all the bad weather, the nest was shredded and the babies fell out...so I made this makeshift nest with one of Darrell's golf towels and placed them in...worried as to what would become of them...but....Mama bird has still been taking care of them!!! and is very protective and has even nipped Copper a couple of times for getting to close. The entire neighborhood has taken interest and we have visitors daily. I hope they make it and that they are left alone by everything that might get them.

Memorial Weekend at Edisto

We had a blast at Edisto with the usual "Fraternity Family." It was great to see everyone and eat so much delicious food! Above is Aunt Megan playing with Andie.

On Saturday we loaded up the boats for our annual trip to Otter. Andie fought falling asleep, but her first time playing at the beach wore her out!

More Than Just Neighbors

I pray that at some point in your life, you are blessed with neighbors as wonderful as mine. Noah and Avery have become more than just neighbors to Andie...they are like her big brother and sister. She loves to play with them, trying to keep up, and just watch them play. They are so sweet (and seem to enjoy) to take Andie for a ride in "the Jeep." Andie will ride for as long as they will take her. She loves them...and I do too!!

Andie's 1st birthday party was this past Saturday. It was great! We all had a blast and Andie did so great...enjoying all of the attention. The pictures below are from the party, but they start with the end.
Here is our sweet girl, so happy and proud of herself after everyone clapped for her and she clapped for herself. :o)

Can't you see in that little face how she adores the attention, almost as if she knows the day was all about her.

LOVING the play keys the Fowlers gave her. We now do not go anywhere without them.

Caroline helped Andie explore her new toys. They couldn't wait to get ahold of the awesome "Laugh and Learn" lawn mower. I love that they are so close in age and already great friends!

We had a great turnout and really appreciate everyone coming and being a part of Andie's special day. As I said, we had so much fun and everyone that was there was a huge reason why. Andie is a very lucky little girl to have so many people love and support her...and so are Mom and Dad! We couldn't have made it through this first year without all of the prayers and support of our family and friends! God is so good...Life is so good, we are truly blessed by this precious girl God has given us.

Some of the kids played "Pin the Candle on the Cupcake." I made it and am so glad it turned out so well. I hope that it will be a tradition for years to come.

For Andie's party, I had pictures from the year displayed...from birth to more recently. It was so neat to look at them all at once and see how much she has grown and changed. It all brought back so many memories, reminding me of little things that have slipped my mind.

A lot of other people took pictures also, so as I get them, I will post them.
